I am giving you metaphors that will stir your heart and will bring love to the Earth like falling snowflakes...
What shall I not give you? What have I not given you? What is it that you lack except the art of seeing?
Bernie is many things.A man of courage. Totally honest, straight, unswerving. A man who says what he thinks and can even swim against the tide. He sure did when he was a pioneer in the field of body, mind, and spirit medicine way before it was known, let alone popular.
Bernie is also a poet, and he sent this poem to me.
As it so happens, I'm pretty sure that this is a poem that Bernie wrote long before this Heavenletter, The Art of Seeing, came out.
I DIDN’T WRITE A POEM by Bernie Siegel
I didn’t write a poem
I talked to one today
I met a beautiful child
You say all children are beautiful
Yes, until they meet their co-creators
Then the poem is often ruined
Losing its rhyme and rhythm
When you meet a beloved child
It is pure poetry
The rhyme and the rhythm are perfect
I wish I were a better creator of poems

I almost forgot that I was going to describe the Indian Ocean from my window every morning. Today, earlier, the sea was dark gray and the sky a light gray. Now the sun is out brighter, and the sky is more towards blue and white and the ocean is more towards green. Very close to shore, the ocean is very green. And after the green comes the white surf just before it hits the shore.

I love listening to Bernie's words on the Heavenletters CD and often replay it just to hear his introduction. Truly, he is inspired. The poem is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

That's what Bernie says in the intro on the cd.
"...Each of us is Needed." We all have an important part to play. I just love that. Thank you, Bernie. Thank you, Gloria. Thank you, God.
How simple is Bernie's message, "I believe we are here to contribute love to the planet - each of us in our own way". It's so great because it allows for infinite possibilities and acknowledges uniqueness at the same time. Thanks, Bernie for being a beacon of love, light and God for all of us for all these years, and for serving humanity unswervingly.
How completely lucky would be the child who Bernie meets! Imagine the gift of it! We must get our children to him, or perhaps the message is that we need to access the Bernie in each of us and spread that around to everyone, near and far.
