Cell Phones and Landline Phones
No longer do I have a land line. You may remember that whenever there was a storm, my phone wouldn't work. And it didn't fix itself. I had to call the phone company each time, wait on the line for a service rep for many minutes, wait for the phone repair people to come out etc., and I would frequently go days without a working phone. And then I had to pay for all this. It finally dawned on me to give up on landlines.
I have a cell phone now, but I use it like a landline phone. I don't carry it with me. It stays plugged in in my office. It's simpler this way. Of course, I will take it with me when I travel.
One would think that I love to run from the kitchen to the office to answer the phone!
I do miss my landline phone. I miss the big numbers that were easy to read. No guessing! I miss that I could get my messages by the simple pressing of a key. I miss the days when I didn't have to give a password and listen to an annoying voice tell me all my options, etc. I liked getting my messages without going through a security check. Anyone who wants my messages can have them, although, for the life of me, I can't imagine why they would want them.
I don't remember if I already told you this or not. Lauren has a friend who is married to a banker. Lauren's friend always forgets to charge her cell phone, and the friend's husband doesn't find this endearing.
But when Lauren told the guy about about her mother who virtually never unplugs her cell phone and it is always charged, he thought his wife's cell phone status wasn't so bad after all.
But, hah, at least I never have to, as Lauren does, for instance, have to ask anyone to call me so I can find out where I left my phone, now, do I?
So, who has the last word, Lauren?

All phones are intrusive, Land lines as well as mobiles, as cellphones are called here, Radio phones etc. My Mobile is the most immobile there is it is mostly sitting empty on my desk. The computer is the best way to communicate, I can read the answer as I can mostly not hear it clearly( getting deaf in my old age) and noone interrupts you when you talk. So dso not phone me send me an e-mail Love Jack
