Did I ever write a bad movie review?
I mean, did I ever review a movie that I didn't like?
At the time I write this blog entry, I'm at Lauren's. There was one movie we saw on her TV that I was absolutely appalled at. What was the point of it? Who would watch it, and why? Who would make the movie and not be embarrassed if not ashamed? It's a famous movie that must have made a fortune at the box office.
The movie had no value that I could see. It was so superficial. Silly, silly, silly. No point at all. The characters didn't grow. They remained adolescents and thought they were great. The four women cared about clothes and what paraded as success. I won't say anymore.
Fortunately, we also saw a movie I liked a lot. And that is one that I had read the book of, Love, Eat, Pray by Elizabeth Gilbert. The main character, Elizabeth, was searching for meaning. She cared about growing. She cared about contributing something to the world. She grew from the beginning of the movie to the end. There was something to the movie, like a little inspiration.
I was proud of her for caring to grow. I was proud of her for caring about more than the confines of her life.
You may remember that I read the book and wrote a blog entry or two about her back then.
Good book. Good movie.
