Fun in Germany

In an earlier entry, I told you how well taken care of I was in Greece, even to the extent of people cutting my sandwich. In Germany too Panos and Veronika and Adrachin take my hand in crossing the street. Now, Veronika has even taken to dressing me! Yes, she zips my coat for me! She washed and ironed my clothes. Whatever am I going to do in Iowa without Veronika!!!

Below, a church in Marienplatz in Munich. There are beautiful little figures that dance around as the bells peal. These are real bells pealing, not recordings playing.

Below, a picture of Veronika and me in Marienplatz in Munich. Can you just see how Veronika is always on the go!

veronika_gloria_germanyVeronika made us a most wonderful suppa (soup) for lunch one day. We named it Veronika’s Heavenly Dumpling Soup. I want to tell you this soup was so good and so piping hot that if you had pneumonia, from one bowl of this soup you would be healed. Why oh why didn’t I take pictures of it. It was a divine-looking soup as well as divine-tasting. This is a Bavarian recipe passed down from Veronika’s grandmother. See the recipe for this suppa at the end of this entry.

Friday night, Russ Michael of Michael Worldwide Newsletter Age-reversal@aon.at and his wife Maria from Austria will join us for dinner and then the workshop for the weekend too. There are also some people coming from Switzerland. Veronika’s daughter Barbara is coming with a friend. Panos will be there, of course.

This is going to be a most unusual workshop because of the people who attend. Four major people who love Heavenletters extraordinarily will be here. Veronika who translates Heavenletters beautifully into German. Panos who publishes Heavenletters and started the European Godwriting™ Institute, Michael who loves Heavenletters without reservation and who brought both Panos and the Romanian publisher, Monica Visan, to Heavenletters; and my dear friend Adrachin who started the forum, and who, like Santhan, whom I will meet in Romania, takes care of sundry computer difficulties. (Adrahin advises that I love my computer because it is a gateway to Heaven.)

And this weekend will be the first Godwriting™ workshop in Bavaria. You are invited. Please come. (Actually it’s happened, and what a workshop it was! Workshop will appear in the next entry coming up!)

And now here’s the recipe I promised:

About 1 litre water.

2 or 3 carrots diced very fine, really tiny pieces, not grated, not chopped in a food mixer, diced very fine with a sharp knife.

1 small onion chopped equally fine.

Veronika says you can of course use any vegetables you want, broccoli, cauliflower, but she likes carrots because they give the soup a golden color.

Veronika also used a vegetarian powdered soup base for flavor.

Let the soup boil lightly.

For the dumplings:

About ½ cup semolina (100 grams -- 3.2 oz), 2 eggs, and a good 3 TBS butter. You must include butter or the semolina will not cohere. Stir the ingredients well. Have the butter warm(not melted). Season with little bit of salt, pepper, nutmeg and fresh ginger. Once mixed you must form into balls immediately and drop by spoon into boiling hot broth. Veronika said it’s faster to form balls, not by hand, though you can, but with a heated teaspoon. Pick up enough semolina mixture with the heated teaspoon and roll the spoon against the inside of a bowl and drop into boiling broth.

Let dumplings cook in soup for 20 minutes.

Pour into bowls, with three dumplings in each bowl.

Then sprinkle with minced fresh parsley generously.

Serve to your friends and make them happy!

Gloria,
Having lived in Germany for 25+ years I was homesick from the first paragraph, and my mouth was watering as I read the recipe for Knoedel Suppe! I wish all my friends in Germany would attend your workshop but sadly, they are not on that path yet. My daughter lives in Munich too and it would be such a thrill to see her sitting there with you. I pray that they all have a change a heart in time for your next trip to Europe.
With love,
David

when you visit your daughter, David,

David and Veronika,

These are the two sweetest comments possible. This is how life is supposed to be. You express a wish, and someone fulfills it.

And I tell you, David, you don't want to miss this invitation. (And bring me back some of Veronika's soup!)

With love and blessings,

Gloria
