Give the World Some Delight

God is full of surprises. He gave me a little surprise on July 12.

It is no surprise that I wrote down a Heavenletter™ on July 12 because I do write one down every day. I wouldn't call any Heavenletter ordinary, for they are all extraordinary, yet there was nothing in this Heavenletter, Give the World Some Delight, that made it stand out for me. Just so you know, this Heavenletter is not yet numbered, and it will be about six weeks before it is sent out to you.

However, I would like to copy down for you one innocent-looking paragraph. Here it is:

Today get up and out of your chair, and do something lovely for someone else. Think of someone or many that you can give a little service to that will make them happy. Maybe offer your seat to them. Maybe smile. Maybe pick them a flower, or pinch their cheek. Give the world some delight, beloveds. Surprise the world. You may surprise yourself. You like a good surprise now and then.

Note that one of God's suggestions was to pinch someone's cheek. And remember I was the only one who had read it.

July 12 was a day like any other day.

That afternoon, Jacqueline, a good friend, and Lauren, my daughter, were doing our regular two-mile walk at the Reservoir. I was minding my own business when Jacqueline, who is really cool, out of the blue, turned around and -- unpredictably -- pinched my cheek!!!!!!!!!!! Jacqueline?!!!!

What could have prompted her to turn around and pinch my cheek but God Himself?

Doesn't this prove that God works in strange and wondrous ways?

It does. And soon we are not going to see anything strange and wondrous any more. I suspect the sentence, "Give the world some delight, beloveds", appealed to you very much, and out of the several options given, the image of pinching a cheek gave you the most joy. All the strange and wondrous things translate into "I am right here. In the kitchen, at your desk, Pleasant Plain Road, Reservoir, no matter."

(Something else: After registration, no notifications. Well, I think I can do without. No, I'm not going to ask you what's wrong.)

How do you in Germany possibly know about Pleasant Plain Road in Fairfield, Iowa?!!!

The surprise of Jacqueline's pinching my cheek was a greater surprise than any of the other surprises would be.

Do you mean that no notifications are reaching you? I did receive a notification of your post, Senor.

You did sign up for notifications, I'm sure. Hmm, what can it be?

You love surprises, that's how I know. Okay, Google Earth did help a little. But only a little. Your country is quite fuzzy in Google Earth. Where I live, I can see my car standing in front of the house I live in. I did, however, spot some lake-like splotches to the northeast of Fairfield. Is that where you go for your walk? Which one?

Yes, I did sign up for notifications. Perhaps it's a Windows-Mac thing, I don't know. Checked the spam filters; nothing there. Not to worry. Ciao Bella.

What appealed most to me was too the cheek pinching ! What a wonderful posting dear Gloria, what a Heavenly experience !!
I'm so happy for you dear, you must have made quite a face when Jacqueline pinched you !

much love to you and all here
Berit

The image I have of Jacqueline pinching your cheeks on a beautiful sunny day, alongside the lake, is soooo beautiful. Did you laugh? What a cool thing to do!

Dear Pinched One,
I'm glad I fulfilled God's thought. Did you like the pinch?
I had an aunt who always pinched my cheeks.
A sign of love for you Gloria.
love,
the pincher
