Great Teachers Do Not Teach
Dear Heavenreaders, this is an article my friend Chee from Singapore wrote for Cosmic Lighthouse Metaphysics Magazine. I liked what Chee wrote so much I asked Chee if we could use use his article and abridge it for a blog entry here. He said Yes.
I also asked Chee to introduce himself and how he first connected with Heavenletters™. Chee wrote:
I discovered Heavenletters through someone's forum or website. While I don't remember whose site, I have been a subscriber to Heavenletters ever since. The inauguration issue of Cosmic Lighthouse Metaphysics Magazine came out July 2007 with a Heavenletter, and we have included one ever since!
One of our objectives is to reproduce the best spiritual materials available today, and we are thankful to be able to carry Heavenletters. Each Heavenletter is a precious reminder from God of our own divinity. We are all human expressions of the divine energy, and Heavenletters remind us of this truth. We are very blessed to have a friend in Gloria. Cheers, Chee."
As you read Chee's article, I bet you can tell why I like it so much. Here it is:
As I review articles for my magazine, I cannot help but notice two different kinds of writing styles. The first kind is what I would call the “teaching” style. The other is what I would categorise under the “sharing” style.
Some articles would probably be a mixture of the two styles since we do not live in a black and white world. Articles that are written in the teaching style tend to make many statements or assertions, and tell people what to do. These authors typically give an impression that they know what is best for the readers.
Good writers and teachers, in my opinion, aim to empower others to use their own inner guidance rather than telling them what to do. They do not interfere with the free will of others. They accept that each individual has his own powerful intuition system to guide him along a path for his highest good.
In the sharing style, writers present inclusivity and empowerment, and tend to use suggestions backed by strong reasoning, convincing evidence and supporting references. Most importantly, they give many real-life examples of which the best examples often come from the writers’ own life experiences. They teach only what they have gone through themselves.
Christ and Buddha were two wonderful teachers who empowered others. They gave plenty of anecdotes, parables and metaphors for the future generations. They led by their own example and taught us that we could also accomplish what they have done.
Christ said we could do even greater things than he did. He had done the most incredible things, and yet he said we could exceed his achievements. This is empowerment at its best.
While we can be guided, it seems that wisdom is something that cannot be taught. We can attend hours of lectures about life and receive knowledge and still not have the actual wisdom. It seems that we gain the deepest wisdom by experiencing life itself.
This is how Buddha taught self-realization by leading people to their own realizations.
Good teaching is empowering. The teacher puts the emphasis back on the readers and reminds them of their own divinity.
Every one of us is a teacher, often teaching silently by our own example and behaviour.
With the reach of the Internet today, words and ideas travel many miles and across physical boundaries. Words carry vibrations, and they can take readers to another dimension or world beyond their day to day reality. Words can inspire others to greater heights.
This is the power of writing. And this is the power of great teachers who share their life experiences.

Hi All. Back from being away! Yes we are all teachers. Our two daughters we just visited were teachers as well as our grand children. The people we met in shops, even the drivers that risk their and others lives with their antics tought us to stay clear of them. After the rain the outdoors was even more beautiful, you see GOD everywhere. I will let you know our adventures later. In the meantime, Love to ALL. Jack
