Happy Marriage

Hi Gloria and all.
This photo above shows where it started 50 years ago in Indonesia. Mieke, my bride, arrived from Holland by ship. We were married the same afternoon and went to the company's resort in the mountains for our honeymoon.
We have been happy together for all that time. But being Humans, of course, we had our differences. Early on, we made a promise that whatever happened, we would not go to sleep without a KISS, and that helped.
To make a relationship last, a lot of 4 letter words are essential. You BOTH have to WORK at it. Both practice GIVE and TAKE. AND LOVE and More LOVE helps as well. FREE is another word that is important, to let each be FREE. Mieke loves reading. I watch cricket and soccer. Mieke likes to play bridge. Although I do play, I am not a fanatic. She plays bridge on the computer with people all over the world in two clubs and has made a lot of friends that she never sees face to face.
We Laugh a lot together, and, after my jealousy departed, we kept growing together. So Work on it. Give and Take Both. Let Each be Free and LOVE and more LOVE. Kick out jealousy and ego, and all goes well.
At the end of this entry, you'll see a photo 50 years Later. Mieke is still as beautiful as ever. Me, I have a lot more weight and less hair but happier everyday. My stock answer to the Question "How are you" is - " Fine, any better I will be in Heaven!"
Back row left to right--
Oldest son, grandson, two grand daughters (at present holidaying in America), 2nd daughter and youngest son. Then oldest Daughter's Husband, myself and my Angel oldest daughter, husband 2nd daughter, wife of oldest son and grandson and youngest daughter, then the three granddaughters in front. The left and right live in Seattle with their parents. The wife of youngest son is holding onto her oldest, all very happy. Just got an e.mail from Seattle that they have snow there, while I am looking at banana trees in Australia.
Mieke just got up, and we will have breakfast. See you later.
Love, Jack

Bless you both and your beautiful family! Happy, lon-lasting marriages are such a lovely, blessed gift and I agree that "four-letter words" like "work, love, and free" are essential. Thanks for sharing your joy!
Jo (married 34 years, but I think most of the credit goes to my husband's ability to put up with me!)
The black and white photograph of the newly weds is most beautiful. Their smiles and expressions show that its a perfect match!
Dear Jo. The credit goes to you both and never forget how beautiful you are. your quircks that your husband puts up with, are your attractions love to you both and keep it up Jack
Thirty-four years! Fifty years! All equally amazing to me.
Jack, I look at your photo, and you have a look in your eye that must have made you a most interesting partner!
Will Mieke tell us her point of view on all this?
Dearest Jack,
many many thanks for this wonderful sharing, indeed both of you are really most beautiful, outside as well as in your hearts!! I really did enjoy reading about your never ending love and joy, what a wonderful person you are and what a wonderful family!!! So beautiful these fotos, THANKS !!
All my love and best wishes to you and your whole family, may God bless and guide all of you each moment!!
all my love
Berit
Dearest Gloria and others who read this. You will not get Mieke's view as in her freedom of choise she is not interrested in -"my God interrest"- Her interrests are doing and being good and not reading about it she has her own Ideas and is not willing to express them to others. I respect her for her own views and that is what I ment by letting each others Free. We talk a lot about all kind of things what I believe and what she believes but only amongst each other as she is a verry private person and what she believes is her believe and she is happy with it and I am happy with mine so we are both happy. We live on 2and a half acre of a permaculture Garden created by my oldest son and his wife who live on the same ground and we build a house around them. each morning the two grandsons come and say hallo and have a little chat before they go to school. Yes we live in Paradise surrounded by love and Happyness. LOVe LIGHT and have Fun . Jack
