It is very interesting how two very different people (your mother and father) came to America from Russia, one loving it - one spitting on it - then found each other and married. I also find it very interesting that my own mother had a similar tendency to spice up stories with a little extra drama. It's as if wounded people with painful pasts must stir up drama in the present to keep the ghosts of yesterday at bay. How insightful of you as a child to understand that your mother "sensationalized" her reporting this way. Your father lived what many prescribe for happiness. He kept his thoughts positive and his heart open.

And I think you inherited your mother's appreciation for drama - you enjoy good stories, and movies.
