New Year's Day 2007

Okay, in contrast to Europe, I will give you a description of my exciting first day of 2007 back in Iowa.

It was a good day, and I did what I wanted.

I was saving that spectacular jar of honey that Santan gave me, the one with dried fruit marinated, the fruit arranged like flowers, a most beautiful thing. You can see a picture of it on the blog entitled First Night in Bucharest, Romania. I was going to save this jar of honey for the time when I had a remarkable guest from faraway places.

It was New Year's Day, and I was alone, and there was this gorgeous little jar of honey eyeing me, begging to be tasted. I was going to take just one little taste, and that's what I did, one little taste over and over again, and, mysteriously, before I knew it, the whole jar was empty. You have to know that each taste of the fruit and honey was exciting for me. It was nirvana. It was Heaven.

What was I doing while the honey and fruit were disappearing?

I was watching the Eloise marathon on TV!

Are you familiar with Eloise? Eloise lives at the Plaza Hotel in New York, and the stories are based on the adorable little girl from a children's book called Eloise. I used to read it ito my daughter when she was little.

The Eloise stories are all delightful and uplifting, and I recommend them whatever your age.

Later Jacqueline came over, and we went grocery shopping at Hy-Vee.

What did you do on New Year's Day? Is it possible that your excitement equaled mine?

What's a misspelling among friends! It's fixed now. Thanks for letting me know.

Isn't there anything else you could say? Like "Thanks for reading Eloise to me when I was a little girl!"

Dearest Gloria,
my new year's day was really normal and calm, nothing
so exiting as what you tasted, but you surely aroused my curiosity a lot!!
Could you kindly tell me one or two book title of Eloise, I will look if I can find them, I'd like to "taste" them.
a dear hug to you dear!
Berit

Dearest Gloria,
I spent the first day of 2007 mostly sleeping. I was recovering from a flu, and was feeling quite absent-like, as if I were walking in a softened and muffled world. I watched a beautiful New Year's concert from Venice and another concert from Vienna, Austria. I ate only fresh fruit and I felt everything was just perfect as it was. - And of course, I translated a Heavenletter - food for my soul.
With love,
Paula

Berit,

The author is Kay Thompson. Some of the book titles are:

Eloise at Christmas
Eloise in Paris
Eloise Takes a Bawth
Eloise's What I absolutely Love, Love, Love

The books are made for young children. YOu could go into a book store and flip through one in two minutes. I would guess they have been translated into Italian, Berit.

There is a movie with Julie Andrews as the nanny called Eloise at the Plaza. There is also a delightful Eloise Christmas movie.

Dear Paula, your New Year's Day sounds divine! Sleep, music, and fruit. And a Heavenletter translation! Glad you're feeling better.

Blessings to all,

Gloria

Hi Gloria,
Your New Year's honey feast sounds lovely. Glad we could shop together that day too.
Jacqueline

Hi Gloria and all. I spend the 1st of Jan on a tropical Island resord with all our children and grandchidren. Payed for by the children, we were not to pay for any thing . Next time I will send some photos when they are edited.I will send them to you Gloria and you can put them in if you think them appropriate for this blog site. Gloria you asked me how we got to this milestone and still in love . This too I will send to you and you can put it in if you think others would be interrested. With lots of love light and blessings Jack

Berit

Yes, Jack, please post yourself. Let us all see here how you and your wife made fifty years of marriage a beautiful blessing. You know, Heavenletters and this blog are about love, and you can give us a true example.

About photos, non-techno as I am, haven't yet figured out how to post them, even with instruction. But I bet if we ask Santhan, he will do it.

Oh, I know what. Jack, maybe what you have to tell us from your heart and the photos can be a guest entry! Maybe that was what you were thinking right along!

Looking forward,

With love and blessings,

Gloria

Senora,

You entered the new year smothered in sweetness! Was Pooh bear somewhere in the vicinity?

As a matter of fact, Senor, while I was gorging on that exquisite jar of fruit and honey, Winnie the Pooh was counting all his jars of honey in his cupboard and was pleased that they were all there. Eleven to be exact.
