No longer can I

As you know, I have been without TV for about a year, except when I visited my daughter in Chicago.

Whereas I love a good movie, I discovered that I don't have the patience to watch regular TV any longer. The shows I have liked in the past, I have no tolerance for. There are certainly some beautiful designs and beautiful homes on the house and decorating shows, for instance, but the emphasis on the insignificant leaves me wanting. It probably always did, but I wanted to see houses and decorating more than I wanted to stop watching.

I know I'm being snobbish, but when a homebuyer goes into a magnificent home that has the biggest most beautiful  bathroom and bedroom that you have ever seen,  and they snub it by saying: "Too small, too small," I bless them to the home of their dreams but no longer do I want to watch the show.

Now, with cooking shows, my beef is that the host thinks he or she has to fill it up with talk, and I wish they'd be quiet and just let me watch the food preparation. For myself, I am not looking for a personality. I want to learn something about cooking.

There was once a cooking show that did just have the chef cooking! There was a voice-over when there was a need to describe what was happening. There wasn't yakking every minute. What happened to the value of silence? I think that show is gone.

Now, the news.

Recently I received an email from a lovely spiritual writer who used to take pride in not having TV and not watching the news. Now she has a TV and watches the news. She defended her position quite thoroughly. Now she feels it is good for her and the rest of us to be up on the news.

I sure understand the pull of news. My father loved the news.  It meant a lot to him for he loved America, his new country, and cared so much.

But if I could talk to the lady who is now in favor of watching the news, I might say:

"That's not the point whether you are up on the news or aren't up on the news. The point is that your attention is focused on the troubles in the world. That's what news is, isn't it? Troubles and problems?"

Does watching erase the problems, calm them, or does watching keep them going? How high a vibration is the news?

Of course, I have to ask myself: How high a vibration is this blog? Maybe it's better if I don't write a blog every day. Maybe it's better for me to wait until I have something wonderful to say. This has been on my mind.

Gloria, how much higher a vibration could a blog be, but on the Heavenletters site?

Your blogs can be an oulet for you,and some of us. They can be very light and funny. Teeny is quite entertaining. Your descriptions of a meal and the preparation and the photos are wonderful.

Your blog quite often will generate a serious discussion. Or when you talk about a person who is making a real difference in the world. I'm sure there isn't one of us reading that doesn't go back and reflect about what we may be doing to make a difference. Or how wonderful our world is, with people like that in it.

Regarding this particular blog, I know of several spiritual teachers who returned to watching the news. There reason? They were having difficulty "connecting" to their groups of students, and participants who do watch the news. And those are the people who supply the donations or fees and keep the centres going.

Gloria, I agree with you. If we focus on the doom and gloom that is where the energy goes.
The real miracles happen in quiet and most are never aware.

Keep writing your blogs. You may not have any idea of just how many ah ha moments people reading them may have, as a result of something you said.

Beloved Lynda, what an upbeat comment! Yes, how wonderful our world is! God bless you.

This is the only blog I keep coming back to regularly. I hope you continue having something wonderful to say everyday...else I'll have to start watching the news!

Uh-oh. No, not that! I'll have to keep on with the blogs to keep you reading, Senor!
