When are you going to get your act together, Microsoft

Dear Microsoft,

Please stop sending me updates.

It’s clear that you don’t understand how my mind works, and I don’t understand yours. Which came first, I don’t know.

I don’t expect you to change your ways. I am aware that you have many many users, and you are not exactly panting to serve me, but I do have to say I don’t understand your motives. What are you thinking? All I can imagine is that you have the idea you are supposed to complicate things. Certainly, as soon as I figure out one of your bright ideas, you change it. Can’t you leave well enough alone?

I have at least two friends who are pulling their hair out because of your Vista program. One cannot even access Heaven’s web site nor this blog because of Vista. And she is quite computer-savvy. Of course, my friends can write to you themselves and not get an answer either.

But Vista is not why I’m writing to you this morning.

For years and years, I have held back on telling you this. You may have done this silly thing from Day One. This is certainly something that, for the life of me, I cannot possibly imagine what you were thinking. This may be the silliest thing you have ever done. I am talking about the sounds you make.

Dear Microsoft, why do you make my computer make a sound every time I open an email? It's not your business.

Do you think I'm unaware that I’m opening an email and that you are duty-bound to ring a bell to let me know?

Also, you make my computer make this perky little sound every time a new email arrives. Honestly, it wouldn’t be so bad if you made your sound only when an important email arrives, but you don’t know when to draw the line.

I do know how to turn off my sound, however, and this is to let you know that I have.

Sincerely yours,

Gloria Wendroff

Senora, in your next correspondence with Microsoft could you please tell them that you now have a friend who's about to end his relationship with Windows, get himself a cabriolet and live in the forest in a cave or under a tree. Tell Microsoft that your friend is going "open source" and that he is grateful for the many years of service, but its time to say bye bye.

I would write to them myself, but I think your message has a better chance of getting to them via you, seeing that you have been friends with them for so long ;)

Certainly, I will write to them on my friend's behalf! However, Senor, it is not possible that you would receive less of a response than I do.

If there weren't a learning curve involved, I would join you on open source.

Oy Vey! Every other day, I'm ready to end my relationship with Windows! Alas I share your learning curve skitters, Gloria. I don't even know what going "open source" means in the technical world. I think I just got your message, One...and will just worry about going open Source Spiritually.

Jo, I love open source. It means programs that caring individuals put together and do not charge for. They are a gift.

Linux (something like that) is wonderful, and it's free (or available by donation.) Don't you love it already?

What are you all talking about. I count my blessings just being able to read GODs words. Whatever LInux or open sourse is who cares.Update messages are there to ignore if you don't want to update. Be like Microsoft and ignore. Whatever I don't understand I can always ask my grandson. My trouble at present is that I get interrupted every minute to play with the DOG who does not like to be ignored. Life is beautiful Mieke is about to wake up so I leave you with Microsoft and I go and have breakfast, Love you All Jack

From time to time the thought intrudes that some one day, for whatever reason, may be the last day a HeavenLetter arrives in my mailbox. And I'm not ready for that.

I missed the last workshop. What particular information is given in a workshop so that I could learn to receive my e-mail from God direct? Can that information be written down in a little book? Is there something necessary that can't be transmitted in words on a page? A blessing, a laying on of hands, an encouragement of heart?

Just wondering.
