My first morning in Palm Beach
Beloved Friends, I wrote a beautiful blog this morning. Just when I was saving it, the internet connection went down. The blog is all gone except for the title. I am bereft. It was a beautiful blog about the gray skies and the gray Indian Ocean this morning and the sun's coming out and changing the ocean to green, and how the sun kept peeking in and out and the colors of the ocean and sky changing accordingly, and about the temperature quite untropical today, how yesterday Heaven Admin kept delivering blankets to my room, and I rejected them, certain that South Africa couldn't possibly know what winter is.
And then it was cold during the night, and I was too lazy to get up and get another blanket, yet when I woke up this morning, I was warm and toasty.
The lost blog was a long long entry. Once a famous author -- I forget who it was -- lost his entire book and rewrote the whole thing. I don't have what it takes to do that. I'm afraid this morning's blog is gone forever. It was wonderful.
We'll see what comes up tomorrow.
Until then,
Much love,
Gloria

Welcome to the south of the Southern Hemisphere in winter, Gloria. Yes, South Africa, especially Johannesburg and Cape Town and, to a much minor extent, Palm Beach (Margate) can be very "untropical" like Perth.
We just had 3 Category 2 Cyclones, in Perth within a week . And it is 7°C at night and it didn't go much higher than 14°C today in Perth. What is it compared to Fairfield and Montreal in the mids of winter with -20°c or so. Of course, here, in summer we can easily reach 45°C in summer and 0°c in winter. Yet, we know and feel the huge difference between winter and summer in Australia and South Africa. Jack would and will certainly talk to you of the difference between winter and summer in tropical Queensland.
But winter will last only 3 months and the rest of the year will be summer. Explain that to your lovely friends in Iowa.
I am sorry you lost your blog but I did enjoy the replacement one.
Today's blog reminds me of yesterday's! Kind of dreamy and open and allowing. No holding. Great.
Oh, but the lost blog was so much more than the one posted, Lauren and Barbara!
Now as I think about what to write tomorrow, I realize I need to write about something right at the time. The trip almost feels like a past life now, and I don't have the impetus to write much about it.
Right now I think to write about my welcome in Africa and a meal at a Hare Krishna restaurant and one Heaven Admin cooked at the beach house. I could also tell about the beautiful immigration experience in Johannesburg.
We'll see!
Yes Gloria, it is not always warm in the tropics, I am sitting here with 2 jumpers a woolen hat and woolen scarf roud my neck. Early morning about 5 degrees and seeig it is a clear sky it will be 23 degrees during the day and nice sunshine We live about 2000 feet above sealevel so it is cooler here than on the coast although I remember in Cairns we once had a cold morning of 9 degrees We mollycoddle ourselfs during the winter and have an electric blanked to warm up the bed before sleep. I might have to go to Cairns today where it will be about 26 degrees but there are to many people there for me to feel comfortable. So Gloria, please listen to Heaven Administer, who knows the local climate and you will be more comfortable.
Hi Normand. Where can I find the degree sign. I cannot see it on my keyboard. Yes I saw on the news you had some hard weather, while we were sun baking the last 2 weeks. well that was our weather report now back to "LOVE ALL AND SERVE ALL." Gloria Hugs and keep well Love light and all have fun. Jack
Hi Jack
I work on a Macintosh so it is different. But I checked the PC keyboard for you and what you have to do is:
press Control+Alt+ keys together + ";" (semi-comma) Never stop holding the Ctrl and Alt together and you will get the "°" degree symbol.
Let me know if it works. If not, you might have to ask Santhan.
To be clearer Jack,
press Control and Alt keys together then press the ; key
Hugs to you, beloved Jack. You are a peach!
