Raise your consciousness, huh?
This morning a title of a forwarded email popped out at me:
Raise Your Consciousness!
It's a great idea, but, huh? How do we do that? How do we consciously do that, as if we raise our consciousness by our will? I just can't believe that it is something we go out and do.
Like, now, I"m going to decide to raise my consciousness a notch and raise it? As if I do it. As if it's my accomplishment. As if it's like learning the multiplication tables or how to spell.
I desire to raise my consciousness with all my heart. It's natural, isn't it, to want more and more and to rise high and reach the Sun?
Certainly, there are things to engage in that we consider better to engage in than other things.
I believe in Heavenletters™. They bring us closer to God. I can call out with all my heart: "Come closer to God! Come read Heavenletters! Come be inspired!"
There are many good ways out there for us to take a step closer to God. Certainly, there are unlimited ways that we can invite higher consciousness. Good, we invite to us what resonates with us. We go for it.
Yet I can't believe that we stamp ourselves with a higher consciousness.
Do we do it, or does God?
It's very possible that our desire for greater closeness to God tips the scale in our favor. At the same time, it seems that our consciousness rises long before we know anything about consciousness.
It seems to me that I have read a story or two about someone who lead a fast life. We might even call him a reprobate. And then, it appears suddenly that he is a totally changed invididual, now totally devoted to God.
Isn't God the Doer?
I didn't know I felt so strongly about this.

I wonder if the reason it bothers you is because of your honesty...since you really don't know you speculate and make no promises about what exactly or how exactly conciousness is raised...you are sure it must be God as the doer, but you do ask this question....it is a little disheartening to realize that others also don't know...should speculate...but rather make advertisements and statements (not necessarily based on fact) with no foundation...but you are okay, you are more than okay; you are being honest and this is what is the most important...I think anyway...Heather
Heather, you sure make me think and you are making me even stronger.
I have no doubt that God does it. God raises us higher. Consciousness is not a how-to!
This is how I see it. I can't speak for anyone else.
Of course, we can gain insights in being in the company of the wise. There are books we can gain from as well, yet I can't imagine that a person or a book can teach or give us higher consciousness. Insights, yes. Greater desire and motivation, yes.

Gloria I also believe this is why God has given us free will. There needs to be a part of us that truly wants and asks for the insight to change our patterns and actions. This "consciousness" word is the new buzz word. I feel it simply means to elevate our vibration to that of one that is love, compassion, peace, joy, etc. rather than wallow in the trenches with so many who seem to be as sheep, believing the marketing and media.
And again, to truly hear what messages we are receiving.
If we muddle along and do not stop to hear, we may not make the change.
What helps me is the Truth that there is ONLY GOD; the wrong mind is fear, which leads to all the "lower consciousness" vibrations caused by our belief that there can be something other than God. Today's Heavenletter about desperation speaks to it; it truly is a choice and we climb our way out of the desperation/fear pit by accessing God/Love -- the All-There-Is. It may take a bit of a process, staying with the fear and allowing it to dissolve; focusing on love; whatever will bring us back to Truth. But we are all God; we are little drops in the Ocean of God and ARE whole, complete and fully conscious. It's only just reminding myself until I once again feel it, know it, experience the peace and joy that is always there underneath the fear.
If you want to get closer to God or improve your consiousness of God. Your intention is there and God gives you all the help you need. That is my experience and as time goes by my happiness keeps growing, even if I think back, say only one week, I was very happy then and could not imagine it could get any better but it did and maybe next week it will be better still although I cannot imagine it.
