I collect rocks. I love to walk on the Indian Ocean beach, and I love to have a purpose. Lately, my purpose has been to collect rocks. I lug huge rocks back, and I also carry lighter ones that fit in my hand. I love all shapes. It gives me a thrill to look at rocks and to touch them and see how the light plays differently on them.

When I moved into this apartment about a year ago, I had sold or given away about 95% of my possessions. I came with too much, nevertheless.

I was proud of myself that I pulled out things I had, such as this beautiful Thai skirt I had somehow kept, and I thumb-tacked it to the wall. It was beautiful, and it still is.
