The little happinesses in life
One day last week was Bosses Day in the U.S. and, for purposes of this blog entry, most importantly, in Chicago where my daughter works.
Lauren, who is manager of a great group of legal assistants, doesn't see herself as a boss but rather, she sees herself as a member of a team, and so she plays her part and so she serves.
Anyway, she received the beautiful flowers above, and receiving them was a happy surprise for her. Probably all happiness is simply happiness, and I should not call some happinesses little and others big. Yes, happiness is happiness. I learn as I write.
In addition to Lauren's happiness at receiving the beautiful bouquet, she was also happy that she had just had a manicure so her fingernails also looked good in the picture!
In the small town in Iowa where Lauren lived before, manicures were not part of her life. Now she lives in the big city.
When I asked her about this, she said to me:
"That's Chicago!"

I feel like a real city person now!
Yes, you are a big city girl now! Chicago is so friendly and welcoming. Everything is coming up roses for you there.
I am not comfortable in any city big or not so big I like the country side, But each his/her own. I love seeing the bananas growing instead of bying them at the supermarket here they taste like bananas in the cities they taste like plastic. To me that is.Sunrise over the hills instead of over houses friendly neibours, the post mistress knows everybody by name. Never mind as long as one is happy where ever they are. Love to all Jack
I grew up in the country ....but like to know I have a city to be close enough to be in everyday if I want to...i agree the bananas are not as good...what is perfect is to have both if possible LOL:) your nails look spectacular Lauren!!
